APM AFRIQUE network. Peasant Agriculture and modernization and CANADEL

The APM Afrique network was established in 1995 to work in the creation and strengthening of an African peasant movement. The CANADEL, Support center of new alternatives of local development, is one of the mainstays of network APM Africa.

Actions:

For that, initiated and launched several programs, the most important were:

  • Program of information and training in rice, cotton and coffee - cocoa sectors;
  • Programme for the cotton observation;
  • Programme of research-action on the impact of globalization on peasant organizations;
  • Program African Peasant University. UPAFA

CANADEL

CANADEL is a Cameroonian NGO created in 1996. Its action is subregional (Central Africa) and the most of its founding members were trained in APM Africa.

Its General Coordinator was always Executive Secretary of APM Africa at the same time one of the pillars of UPAFA.

Canadel Mission:

To accompany the processes of social transformation and change in the institutions, organizations and communities in the socio-institutional, economic and environmental criteria for the expansion and welfare of Man.

Canadel Vision:

Being an organization to accompany and be a reference at the strategies and development policies at the local, national and subregional levels in Cameroon in Central Africa.

Their values:

  • A development at the service of man;
  • The expertise and creativity;
  • Transparency and constructive criticism;
  • The development and culture;
  • An organized Africa will emerge from underdevelopment.

 

Its main areas of intervention are articulated around 4 the following programs:

  • Rural development with two sub-axes: supporting producer organizations (farmers, ranchers, fishermen, artisans) and natural resource management.
  • Urban Development with two sub-axes: accompaniment of the development dynamic of poor neighborhoods in major cities and support for the socio-professional integration of young people.
  • Decentralization, governance and local development through the accompaniment of the municipalities in the regions.
  • Public policy and civil society, through the participation of CANADEL improving public policies for developing and strengthening the visibility and capabilities of civil society.
