CERAI. Internacional Agriculture and Rural Studies Centre

CERAI is a Non Governmental Organization for the Development with a secular, progressive and independent character. We were born in 1994 in Valencia, with the intention of creating an organization that address the spanish and european agricultural and rural world, its relations with the international trade, the problem of underdevelopment, the environment, ecological agriculture and its future, sustainable development, rural migration, and so on.

As defined in General Assembly of members, is an "organization that is part and pretend to be a reference point of the social movement that seeks to transform the agrarian and rural world from the perspective of sustainable development, solidarity, respect for human rights and participatory democracy".

The objectives of CERAI are:

- The analysis and reflection on rural, environmental and food processing problematic issues in spanish, european and international levels, as well as disclosure of the great challenges that agriculture in the XXIth century face regarding to territorial zoning, biodiversity, agroecology, production systems, food quality and consumers education.
- The awareness in the society with respect to the values of the organization: sustainable development, solidarity, respect for human rights and participatory democracy.
- International cooperation and solidarity with the farmers in less developed countries, through projects that improve their living conditions, their organizational and self-management capacity.
- Training through courses in cooperation, agroecology, sustainable rural development, agriculture and medicinal plants, the valuation of mediterranean products and training courses for immigrants, as well as the organization of trips to the countries where CERAI maintains cooperative projects in order to learn their culture, people, customs and ways of development.
