24 000 people die every year at sea on a total of 15 million full time workers working in fisheries. The FAO mainly questions the cost-cutting and the poor conditions of many boats. The most dangerous fisheries are located in the North-East Pacific, the Northern Atlantic, and the North Sea.

Sessions of Nant (Aveyron, France) of the Sustainable Earth Alliance

June 29 to July 5, 2009

We organized coordination sessions of Sustainable Earth Alliance in Nant (Aveyron) from June 29 to July 5, 2009 at 2 p.m.

After having carried out the sessions of Saint Martin of London (June 2006) and Saluzzo (Mars 2008), we envisaged to join together in Aveyron, in the valley of Dourbie, in Larzac with some objectives:

  • To confront our glances, our feelings, starting from field visits on the topic “food systems, from production to consumption”
  • To evaluate the activities of the various organizations implied in the Sustainable Earth Alliance and to support the common convergences, strategies, the joint projects for the future years, on various broad topics: Durable food systems, natural ressources management, land, territories, and training of the social leaders.
  • To discuss and direct the joint projects in progress (Sustainable Earth International University, TC web site and associated, Case studies with multiple dimensions…)
  • These sessions will be also the moment to carry out decentralized meetings during two evenings, on the TC University in hamlets, on the inhabitants of Larzac and the region, on varied topics.
